Truss project-
The truss project was a test to see if we could build our own trusses. We followed the design of 2 different trusses one of them being a simple triangle and the other being 3 triangles, one of them being a square split into 2 triangles.
Truss 2 (bottom) E=F/W 5= 2/10
Efficiency= force/weight (66.99/2.75)= 24.36
Constraints- The custom truss had to be 36 inches of balsa wood or less, also we only had around 3 days to complete all 3 trusses.
Conclusion- Learning where the reaction forces would effet our truss was really evident when making our custom truss. The truss broke at the center point where most of the force was applied. If we could re do our truss I would have put extra triangles toward the center to balance out the reaction forces acting on our truss.
